Online again

Saturday September 15 2007

Inverness CastleThe wee bundle of stuff from Tiscali arrived in the post this morning, and so I am now connected at home. Hurrah!

You can now expect lots of riveting blogs and breathtaking photos over the next few days as I catch up with myself.

But for starters, here’s one of Inverness Castle to celebrate my return.

The end is in sight

Thursday September 13 2007

Nine days without a blog.  Must be some sort of record.

Lots has happened since I last (briefly) blogged, including going to Dundee again, doing plenty more travel for work (including York and London), doing a bit of unpacking in my flat, catching up with more people, and having Jehovah’s Witnesses at the door (more about that soon).

I’ve also taken quite a few photos, but won’t be able to upload them to Flickr until I get my internet connection at home.  And that shouldn’t be too far away – I’ll probably be connected some time next week, so the end of my online exile is in sight.

However whether I spend much time online soon remains to be seen – this coming week will see me in meetings in Thurso, Dundee, Arbroath, Fraserburgh, Elgin and Perth.

Of those, Fraserburgh is the only place I have not been to.  I hear it’s a heroin-filled dump, but will give you as full a report when I get back.

Or, perhaps, if I get back.

Dundee

Tuesday September 4 2007

Just to confirm to my dear readers that I am still alive.

I got back this morning from 24 hours in Dundee (work and pleasure), which was the first time in over a year that I’ve been in the City of Discovery (you get there then discover you want to leave).

I must confess I base my dislike on Dundee purely on the fact that I am an Aberdeen Uni graduate and therefore predisposed to sneer at the place.

However my new job will see me visit it a number of times over the coming year, and so I will keep you all posted as to whether my opinion of the place changes at all.

And once I get my internet up and running at home, I’ll be able to start uploading photos from my travels for work. That, however, is still some time away. So occasional visits to friends’ internet connections is all I have for the next wee while.

Moving back

Saturday September 1 2007

Hello from Inverness.  Where the air is clear, the streets are clean, and the toilets in Morrison’s supermarket don’t have blinding blue lights to stop druggies seeing the veins in their arms.

It’s been a hectic couple of days, what with packing, moving, and now the work in progress that is unpacking.  I also have lots to do in terms of calling utility companies, and it might be a week or more before I get the internet up and running in my flat.  So my blogging might not be as regular over the next wee while.

I have a busy week, then, what with continuing to settle in, catching up with people, and a working week packed with travels for my new job.  More on all that soon.

In the meantime, it’s Sunday tomorrow… wonder if there’s any good churches in Inverness…?
